Palazzo MininNi
Cent. 17th
This palazzo is situated on the old “Strada dei Trappeti”, known today as via Aldo Moro, which leads from Piazza Santa Croce to the church of Santa Maria dell’Assunta e San Sebastiano. At the beginning of the 17th century it belonged to Giovanni Alfonso de Leone and was then passed down to his heir, the nobleman Lelio de Leone. In the second half of the 17th century the building was purchased by the notary Leonardo Mininni and was successively inherited by his sons Giuseppe Nicolò and Francesco Antonio, who divided the building between them. In 1752, between the two sections of the building was the Cappella di S. Nicola Nuovo (new chapel of St. Nicholas), erected by the priest Francesco Antonio de Antoniis in 1656, in “times of plague”.
In 1752, directly outside Porta dei Trappeti, which was then situated just past Palazzo Mininni, there were two oil presses on the left, belonging to the Count of Conversano, and opposite these were the “camini”, where the remnants of the oil pressing were deposited.
